No horse is too big or small…

…for Two Horse Tack, which Lazarus demonstrates. Lazarus is a draft horse who was rescued from a kill pen auction in New Jersey and is now loved by his person, Heidi.

Lazarus is wearing our blue sidepull bitless bridle, which starts at just $55 in our online shop (a flat price, whether you order a draft, a mini, or a regular horse size). The sidepull is one of two bitless bridles we offer; the other is the 2-in-1, which can be converted to either a crossunder style or a sidepull. Learn more about bitless styles here.

If you love riding in a halter and rope, try a bitless bridle!

Like many of us, Ashley has spent afternoons here and there throwing a halter and leadrope on her horse and going for a short ride. Of course, you can’t necessarily spend every day in the ring that way. This led her to wonder whether a bitless bridle might be right for her two horses.

As she writes in The North Carolina Cowgirl Blog, Ashley found it was a great fit for her horse Gracie and was pleased with the quality of our 2-in-1 bridle with bling.

“Whether you ride English or Western, Two Horse Tack’s bitless bridle is a great piece of tack and I would recommend it. It’s good quality for the price and functions well. If your horse is like mine, then I’m sure he/she would love to be ridden without a bit every once in a while. 😉”

Congratulations to Jayden and Smokey!

Two Horse Tack is pleased to extend congratulations to Jayden and Smokey, winners of our December/January tack giveaway! Jayden and Smokey have won a custom-made buckle nose safety halter in their choice of size and color. Besides having a European style flair, the buckle nose safety halter makes it easy and safe for a beginner rider or green horse to safely switch from halter to bridle, and back again.

Although we didn’t realize it when Jayden’s email address was randomly selected as the winner in our system, Smokey is exactly the kind of horse who deserves a comfortable, brand new halter. Smokey is a 20-year-old neglect case and was being cared for on and off by boarders at the barn where he’d been left. When Jayden moved in, she tells us she instantly fell in love with him.

After Jayden started caring for Smokey, he was dealt some more bad luck–he was kicked by a pasturemate, tearing his esophagus and creating an infection in his throat.

“It gained so much pressure that he had a high fever, wouldn’t eat, and could barely move his head, as his entire body was so swollen,” said Jayden. “We were about to put him down when his neck literally popped. He can’t eat hay as a fistula has formed where the tear was, but he’s now fully healed and is my competition horse!”

Jayden and Smokey have been competing in entry level eventing, and plan to move up to beginner novice soon. What a transformation! We think they look great, and look forward to following their journey on Instagram.

Didn’t win our December/January giveaway? We’re running another through the end of February for a Sidepull Bitless Headstall. Always wanted to try the freedom of a bitless bridle? This could be your chance. Fully adjustable at the chin, cheeks, throat, and noseband, our bitless bridles may be more comfortable for super sensitive horses. Enter to win and you’ll get a $5 off coupon for your next purchase.

Greetings from Baxter!

Lots of riders have “signature colors” for their horses, and Baxter is no exception. Baxter is a North American Spotted Draft. His person Cathleen says he’s “really hot stuff…unless he’s cooling his tootsies in the kiddie pool or at the beach!”

No matter what color combination you and your horse look best in, there’s a good chance we’ve got it in our online shop. Check us out!

We think Baxter’s dark coat looks extra stunning in his purple swag.

Congratulations to Gaia!

Congratulations to Gaia, winner of our recent tack giveaway with the Behind the Bit blog! We love meeting our followers on social media, and readers in the blogosphere. Gaia is a 2-year-old Tennessee Walking Horse who has been hand-raised by her human, Susan. Gaia was a dystocia foal, meaning her delivery was complicated; in Gaia’s case, her dam suffered a fractured pelvis, which meant that she couldn’t take care of Gaia. Susan tells us Gaia didn’t have to be bottle fed but actually drank milk out of a Tupperware container.

Meet Gaia, the Tennessee Walking Horse

Meet Gaia, the Tennessee Walking Horse

Because of Gaia’s age, she’s not ready to begin working under saddle yet, but will be starting ground driving soon and her people hope to use her new bitless bridle in her early training.

Susan tells us that because of the way Gaia grew up, she’s very people-oriented; sort of a “pocket pony” whose personality should help her excel at whatever she does. We’re expecting big things from this little girl!

Gaia will get a great start with our two-in-one bitless bridle, which converts between a cross-under bitless bridle and a sidepull. The cross-under style works with more generalized pressure than the sidepull, which focuses pressure on the horse’s nose. Many of our customers find that the bitless bridle gives them both extra control and a better sense of connectivity with their horse. The flexibility of the two-in-one makes it a great option for those trying a bitless bridle for the first time.

Ashlyn the Gypsy Vanner

We’re thrilled to announce the winner of our most recent tack giveaway! Five-year-old Ashlyn is a 13.1 hand Gypsy Vanner mare. Ashlyn has some very unique breeding–she is a homebred for Gone Gypsy Farm, and as the daughter of Indigo Royal Night and Sweet Lil Liza Jane she carries the Appaloosa gene. Gone Gypsy specializes in spotted Gypsy Vanners, and Ashlyn has already produced a black spotted filly named “Tink.”

Ashlyn is accustomed to ponying off a golf cart, and has already completed a Level Three obstacle course in hand. She will begin working under saddle this year, and her people at Gone Gypsy are excited to use the bitless sidepull that they’ve won to begin her training.

Congratulations to our tack giveaway winner!

Congratulations to Maya B. of Arizona, who won a free two-in-one bitless bridle in our most recent tack giveaway!

Maya is the proud owner of 19-year-old Arabian mare La Negra. When Maya got her, the mare was abused and neglected (think no farrier for three YEARS) and had been used for horse tripping. After two years of hard work, Maya tells us this gorgeous mare is finally back in fantastic shape. She still has a lingering quarter crack in one of her hooves due to years of neglect, but she has learned to trust again. The pair go trail riding across all kinds of terrain, swimming in the lake, and have played with barrels and jumps. La Negra is now relaxed and trusting enough to be a kid’s horse.

Maya chose a bridle with aqua bling, which we think is going to look fabulous on La Negra.

La Negra, in all her glory

We salute you Maya, for making this sweet girl what she is today!
